Kindergarten Procedures
Kindergarten Times- AM- 8:30-11:20 and PM 12:25-3:10
Carpool-We ask that you place your carpool letter in the front passenger-side window (for dismissal). The line of cars should pull into the circle in front of the school, stopping at the main entrance. If the line of cars extends onto East Dunstable Road, we ask that you pull into the main parking lot to continue the line, instead of blocking traffic on the street. We will open the door to let children in or out of the backseat. We are not allowed to fasten safety belts. At dismissal, if your child cannot buckle him or herself, please pull forward before assisting your child. Buckling themselves would be a great thing to practice before school starts. In addition, you may park, in the main parking lot or on a surrounding street, and walk your child to and from school at any time you choose.
Snack- Please start sending a snack to school with your child on that first “real” day. Most parents send something nutritious along with a drink. Please do not send in any peanut-based snacks due to allergies. If you would prefer to buy milk from the school, an envelope will be in your Open House packet. The two choices are 2% white milk or low fat chocolate, and the cost is $30.00 for the year. Milk cannot be purchased weekly.
Birthdays- Due to many unknown food allergies we ask that you choose an alternative way to celebrate your child's birthday. You may come in and read a book to the class, send in nonfood goody bags, do a simple craft with the class, or something else that is approved by the Kindergarten teacher.
Early Release Days- Early Release Days occur one Wednesday a month for teachers to attend workshops, extra training, etc. Please check the Bicentennial School monthly calendar for early release dates. Your child may not have school on that day or may attend school at a different time. AM Kindergarten will attend at its normal time in September, October, December and January. PM Kindergarten attends from 8:30-11:20 on February, March, April and May early release days.
