Immunization Requirements and Physical Exams- All students must meet the immunization requirements set forth by NH law for school attendance. Students must also provide proof of a complete physical examination upon entrance to school. You may view the required immunizations for NH children at the following link:
http://www.dhhs.nh.gov/DHHS/IMMUNIZATION/default.htm
Medication Policy- If your child needs to take prescription medication during the school day, a doctor’s note is required and the medication must be stored in the original pharmacy labeled container. For safety reasons, please do not send in medication with your child. The medication must be dropped off by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.
Communicable Diseases- Hand washing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of germs and viruses. Please keep your child home from school if they have any of the following: fever greater than 100 degrees, severe coughs, severe colds, vomiting, diarrhea, head lice, conjunctivitis, strep throat or any other communicable disease. Feel free to contact me if you are uncertain about sending your child to school.
Screenings- Vision screenings are performed on all 2nd and 4th graders. Dr. Quimby of Quimby Eye Care, screens all second graders, and I perform simple eye exams on all 4th graders. In addition, I would be happy to screen any student if there are any concerns by the parent or teacher at any time during the year. If a follow up is recommended, a referral form will be sent home. Scoliosis screenings will be done on all 5th graders. Permission slips will be sent home prior to the screening and participation is optional.
Nutrition- Making sure your child starts their day with a healthy breakfast is very important. Breakfast provides your body and brain with the energy it needs to be healthy, to grow, and to learn! Snacktime is also an important part of your child’s day. Please be sure to provide your child with a nutritious snack each day. The following is a healthy snack suggestion list:
