REACH
REACH (Recognizing Extraordinary Abilities in Children) in the Nashua School District seeks to identify and meet the needs of students who exhibit the characteristics of gifted and talented. The REACH process is intended to create deliberate efforts to meet these needs. In her book, Gifted Children: Myths and Realities, Dr. Ellen Winner identified three manifestations of extraordinary abilities of gifted students as precocity, a rage to master, and marching to the beat of a different drummer. Because the gifted and talented are different and unique, these students often require modifications of regular programs to develop maximum potential. REACH strives to meet the needs of these students through educational instruction and activities.
