Dear Parents,

Please take a few minutes to review the following school health policies and procedures.

Each elementary school is staffed with a full time Registered Nurse. Please keep in mind that the nurse is only responsible for attending to illness and injury that occur during school hours.

In consideration to fellow students, please do not send you child to school if they appear to be ill. Close seating in classrooms accelerates the spread of communicable diseases.  Click here for a few guidelines you may find helpful.

The school nurse has the authority to exclude any child from school if the child appears to have an infectious condition. If illness occurs during the day a child will be dismissed only when a parent or other designated adult picks them up at school. We do not allow children to be dismissed unattended.

If your child stays home sick, please notify the school office. When the student returns to school, please send along a note stating the reason for the absence. In the case of a serious, prolonged illness, a note from your family physician is required before the student can return to class.

No student will be excused from gym class or recess unless a directive is received from the child's physician indicating that due to recent illness or injury the child should not participate.

If your child requires medication during school hours, please remember that you will need a written doctor's order and will also need to sign an authorization form. These forms are available in the Health Office. All medication must be brought in by a parent in the original pharmacy container.

Thank you for taking the time to review these policies and procedures. Please contact the Health Office if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
"Mrs. K"
