Fairgrounds Elementary School, “A Caring Place to Be!” is comprised of over 575 students learning and growing in a Kindergarten through grade 5 environment. Our school, as a small representation of society as a whole, contains students with a large range of talents, abilities, needs, and disabilities. Each and every one of our students has access to 58 professional and 34 support staff.
The children of Fairgrounds receive a first-rate education from a highly skilled and dedicated group of teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff who work incredibly hard to challenge and support our students. Our staff provides opportunities for each student to develop academically, socially, physically, and emotionally to his or her potential in an integrated setting. Our educational program is designed to provide maximum opportunity for each child to respond creatively to the learning environment. The foundation of the curriculum is the conviction that the development of certain skills is essential to the learning process, and that this development will proceed according to the individual needs of every child.
As well, our school is a Character Education School. “At Fairgrounds Elementary School we believe children deserve a caring environment where all individuals feel responsible for themselves and their community. It is our goal for all individuals to care about others, cooperate, and contribute toward creating a successful learning experience”. Fairgrounds Elementary is preparing for its sixth year of our Character Education program. Our mission is to create and maintain an atmosphere of caring and foster good character habits in our students. Our focus has been on developing a working relationship between the home, school and community. Over the last few years we have been highly successful in establishing these strong bonds. Our school developed, home grown program, focuses on the integration of character education into our existing curriculum. Our school and faculty stand as a model to other area schools. We have been instrumental in assisting other schools in the Character Education Initiative. We are extremely proud of our accomplishments and eagerly look forward to the future.
Also we would like to recognize our fine group of parents who are involved with our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). We are fortunate enough to have many parents committed to securing the best education for their children. This fine group of parents shares the staff’s dedication to excellence in education. Their generous donations of time and money demonstrate their true commitment to providing the very best for the students of Fairgrounds Elementary.
