FES Parent Center
Fairgrounds' Parent Center is located in Room 8 and is open daily as a gathering place for parents. This welcoming place offers educational programs, community resources, and a parent library. Workshops are offered throughout the year on topics such as internet safety, behavior management, helping your child learn to read, and helping your child with homework. Additionally, Fairgrounds works in cooperation with The Adult Learning Center to provide ESOL (English As A Second Language) and GED classes weekly. We also employ a Home/School Liaison and a Parent Educator to support parents.
The Parent Library contains materials to help parents learn techniques to help their children in school and with situations that occur in their lives. Books addressing reading and math strategies, anger management, helping a child through death, information on nutrition and exercise, the issue of bullies, and making friends are available to help parents work together with teachers to enable their children to be "ready to learn" every day.
Please look for flyers from the Parent Center inviting you to participate in programs throughout the year.
WANTED: Involved Parents
At Fairgrounds Elementary we encourage parents to become partners in the education of their children through regular, two-way and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities. On-going parental involvement leads to higher academic achievement, better student attendance, and improved behavior both at home and at school. We strive to provide opportunities throughout the year for parents to connect with staff and faculty about helping their children succeed.
