Welcome to Third Grade

Welcome to the Third Grade. Our year will be productive and busy. We will study our Constitution, the geography and cultures of our world, and the culture of Native Americans.  In science we will learn to classify and we will learn the scientific principals behind simple machines, light and sound. We will also study Land Use and Healthy Eating Habits. Our course in Scott Foresmen Reading will emphasize comprehension and vocabulary building which will be reflected in extensive writing exercises emphasizing proper grammar and spelling. Our Everyday Mathematics program will continue to spiral expanding on previously introduced concepts. We hope you know all the addition facts without the use of fingers or charts because this year you will be learning your multiplication facts.

Parents, education is the greatest gift we give our children. The academic foundation they build now will be reflected in their future. It is essential that your child knows you value education and you can do this by attending parent conferences, and open house, and by establishing a routine for homework, bedtime, and punctuality to class. Thank you. We look forward to meeting with you and celebrating the academic achievements of your child.
