Disease around the Globe Unit Page

This page contains information and activities related to understanding nature of diseases that impact the human species.  Through this unit you will analyze how human interactions with their environment have  contributed to the spread of disease and how humans have responded with high-tech and low-tech solutions.  You will develop an understanding of the nature of evolution of bacteria by investigating mitosis and mutation and the exploring the history of antibiotic development.  You will learn about systems in place in humans that function to maintain homeostasis by contolling the constant onslaught of invaders and discover a variety of symbiotic relationships in which different species can both help and harm other species.
