                                                                  Red Ribbon Week

Was enjoyed by all.  Thank you to Mrs. Thompson for organizing the events, themes, and prizes for the week.  A source of information for parents and your goal to raise drug free kids can be found on www.theantidrug.com .

                                                                      PTO Meeting

The PTO meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 5th.

                                                                        Book Fair

The Sunset Heights Library will host a fall Book Fair Tuesday, November 17TH through Friday, November 21ST.  Parents and friends are welcome to visit the Book Fair any time during the school day.  All teachers will have wish lists available from which you may like to choose books to purchase for the classrooms.  Looking forward to seeing you and thank you for your support!

Congratulations to the 2008 Sunset PAL 2K and 3K Cross Country Teams

The Sunset Boy's 3K team placed 3rd overall out of 12 teams with the top 5 finishers:  Conor Canfield, Casey Fisher, Sean Collins, Mitch King and Kyle Ellis.  The Sunset Girl's team placed 4th overall out of 11 teams with the top 5 finishes:  Jocelyn Chaput, Katherine Stoncius, Sarah Cardillo, Kayla Bednarz, and Katie English.  Sunset's 2K Boy's and Girl's teams made us proud!  Thanks to Coach Scot Chaput for another great year (his last year at Sunset) supported by Assistant Coaches Lynda Pintrich-Martin, John and Judie Fisher and Debbie Bednarz.  A big thanks to the Sunset Heights PTO for funding the team's t-shirts - we took 1st place for the best looking shirts!  A special thanks to the parents for supporting your children throughout the season and for your generosity in donating food and drinks on the day of the event.

                                                                  Parent Conferences

Just a reminder of the conference opportunities available from 4:00 – 7:30 PM on November 25 and from 8:00 – 11:30 AM on November 26.  You can either arrange it thru the teacher or by calling the office.

                                                               Thanksgiving Food Drive

Once again we will assist our partner, Rivier College, by collecting canned or no-perishable foodstuff for donation to the needy at Thanksgiving.  Our generous PTO will again be donating turkeys to the cause.

We will also be conducting a Penny Pickers Drive through the month of November to help benefit the efforts of the Nashua Pastoral Care.  Further information will be coming.

                                                          PTO Sponsored Roller Skating Party

This traditional event is always a good time for the Sunset Community.  It will be held Monday, November 3rd at 6:00 PM at Roller Kingdom.  See you there!

                                                                          Think Snow!

If you’re interested in having your child ski thru the PTO, please plan on attending the November 13th meeting in the School Café at 7:00 PM.  Scot and Cheryl Chaput are the Volunteer Coordinators of this program.

                                                                                     Holiday Food Assistance

On November 3rd, people can start calling The Soup Kitchen (889-7770) for food baskets for Thanksgiving.  Then on December 1st you can call them for food baskets for Christmas.

There are also other local organizations and local churches throughout the community that provide holiday assistance.  The newspaper could provide additional information on these places.

                                                                     Weather

Now that the cooler weather is upon us, it is important that the children be dressed appropriately.   Please make sure they come to school with some kind of jacket, sweater or sweatshirt, and hats and gloves when necessary.  Thank you.

Additional Method to Pay for School Lunches

Food Services Director Jeanette Kimbell announces that PayPAMS is now available for Nashua parents to use to view their children's lunch account balances and receive email notification when their children's balances are low on funds.  Parents need to register online for this service at www.PayPAMS.com and click on the Register Now! link.  PayPAMS is a secure, fast, and friendly way to pay online for school lunches from home.  PayPAMS does not charge a fee to register, browse the website, and check account balances; however, PayPAMS charges a $1.95 service fee per student per transaction to cover the cost of maintaining its web site.  Director Kimbell says that the all prior methods of paying for student lunches remain available without any transaction fees.

                                                           HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL
