PTO Meeting
The PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17th. The meeting was changed from November 10th to the 17th because of the Roller Skating night.
Book Fair
The Sunset Heights PTO will host a fall Book Fair Monday, November 16TH through Friday, November 20ST. Parents and friends are welcome to visit the Book Fair beginning Wednesday, November 18th thru Friday, November 20th. All teachers will have wish lists available from which you may like to choose books to purchase for the classrooms. Looking forward to seeing you and thank you for your support!
Family Game Night
Join us on Thursday, November 19th in the cafeteria for Family Game Night, 6:30 – 8:00 PM. You will have the opportunity to test out board games, card games, puzzles, and dice games in a family-friendly atmosphere. All games can be purchased and make great gifts. This fun filled evening is free to all.
Congratulations to the 2009 Sunset PAL 2K and 3K Cross Country Teams
Congratulation to the 2009 Sunset Heights Cross Country Team! We had several runners in the top 25 places in both the 2k and 3k races. For the 2k girls our top finisher was Syanne Mohamed, she placed 22nd. In the 2k boys it was James Mackenzie that place 10th. In the 3k girls we had Kayla Bednarz tying for 2nd, Olivia Koutsos placing 7th, Gabrielle Masseur in 9th, Hope Mackenzie in 15th and Briannan Boyle in 22nd. As a team the 3k girls finished first becoming the first Sunset Height city championship award. For the boys 3k Conor Canfield won the race with Tyler Retkevicz in 14th, Kyle Fisher in 15th, Alex Koutsos 22nd and Peyton Fisher in 50th. The boys placed 3rd as a team. It was a super day for all of the runners! We are very proud to have such great student athletes. Thanks to Coach John Fisher, Lynda Pritich, Deb Bednarz, Judy Boire and Judie Fisher. Also, thanks to the parent volunteers for helping with practices and meets. Way to go Sunset Heights Cross Country Team!
Parent Conferences
Just a reminder of the conference opportunities available from 4:00 – 7:30 PM on November 24 and from 8:00 – 11:30 AM on November 25. You can either arrange it thru the teacher or by calling the office.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Once again we will assist our partner, Rivier College, by collecting canned or no-perishable foodstuff for donation to the needy at Thanksgiving. Our generous PTO will again be donating turkeys to the cause.
PTO Sponsored Roller Skating Party
This traditional event is always a good time for the Sunset Community. It will be held Tuesday, November 10th at 6:00 PM at Roller Kingdom. See you there!
Think Snow!
If you’re interested in having your child ski thru the PTO, please plan on attending the November 4th meeting in the School Café at 7:00 PM. Al Sewell is the Volunteer Coordinator of this program.
Holiday Food Assistance
The Nashua Soup Kitchen (# 889-7770), located at 42 Chestnut Street in Nashua, will have Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets available to families. The following are the days and times to receive the basket:
- For thanksgiving food baskets: Monday November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th from 1000 – 3:30 PM
- For Christmas food baskets: Tuesday, December 22nd and Wednesday, December 23rd from 10:00 – 3:30 PM
You do not need an appointment for these baskets. You may just walk right in.
Weather
Now that the cooler weather is upon us, it is important that the children be dressed appropriately. Please make sure they come to school with some kind of jacket, sweater or sweatshirt, and hats and gloves when necessary. Thank you.
Lost and Found
If your child is missing a jacket, sweater or some article of clothing, please stop in and check out the Lost and Found located in front of the nurse’s office.
